I am just going to get straight to the point why I started blogging.

1). Thousands of people start blogging because its popular and easy to manage more than a website because no programming language required. But I started blogging because I’m passionate about it and I just enjoy the blogging on a whole.

2). I have had only 2 jobs in my life. My first job I used to work at a supermarket packing bags, I didn’t like it and my boss was a bitch. Worked there for a year. My second job I worked in a pharmacy for 3 years and again that boss was a major bitch and a pain in the ass (please excuse my language). So I started blogging as well to make own money.

3). I’m very helpful so I want to help other interested people who want to start a blog and also help them to make money online blogging.

In this post I will elaborate more on these 3 reasons for choosing to be a blogger.

My 3 Main Reasons For Starting My Blog

Because I’m Passionate About It

Started out online I didn’t know a single thing about blogging. I didn’t even know that blogs existed. I only knew about websites and forums because they were more popular.

I discovered blogs when I stumbled upon Lisa Irby’s blog, and ever since I have been hooked. Every site that I started to visit I made sure that it was a blog and not a normal website. I began to admire these blogs and wanted one of my own even though I had no knowledge of blogging.

My first blog was hosted at Bloggers.com and at that time I was just testing how blogs really worked. After getting the whole concept of blogging I started to develop the passion for writing and publishing. After that my blog got deleted by Bloggers.com robot saying that my blog seemed to be a spam. So I moved to a self hosted WordPress blog.

This blog (to date) is now 10 months old and I have loved every single day of having this blog, and writing for it. I passionate about blogging and I love what I am doing.

Make It A Source Of Income

As I stated at the top about my 2 previous jobs that I didn’t like my bosses. They didn’t seem to have any respect and that’s what I hated the most, long work hours and a low-income.

I am now a blogger and I am blogging to make money online so that I can escape the hectic 8-6 work hours. Yes that’s what I said. I wasn’t working 9-5 but I was working 8-6 which is really terrible plus low pay checks. I didn’t have weekends for myself and Sundays I spent to recover and rest for the other week ahead of me.

After having the passion for blogging, I have decided to also make it a source of income so that I can be my own boss. I can now have the freedom of being in my own home and make money online. I don’t even have to be working on my blog 9-5 to make the money that I was making by working for somebody else.

How It Changed My Life

Since I started blogging I have gained lots of friends online, and I am better at networking and making friends. I feel more self-confidence, I am better at writing and this has also helped me to know that blogging is not for the weak.

I began blogging for essentially the same reasons with a few minor differences: my previous positions involved contracting in various places for the US government, pharmaceutical rep, research nurse (BSN), and many others. My bosses weren’t bitches, they were lechers. Throughout all these jobs, I wrote professionally on a part-time basis. In January 2010, I left the corporate world and working for someone else FOREVER and began writing full time.

I, too, love helping others and am in the process of launching a new website focusing on helping others who want to create their own destinies by freelancing their talents. I planned the launch for April, but now it seems it won’t happen until June — I’m getting a GREAT deal on site design from a partner and cannot rush him through this process as his generosity in building my site is an undeserved blessing.

Passion: I am so passionate about writing that if I were independently wealthy, I would write copy for clients for free or donate all proceeds to various charities. I am struggling with balancing this passion with the other passions in my life: husband, children, faith (in no particular order).

Thanks! I now know that I’m not alone. What is it with the bitch and lecherous bosses out there? is this something that happens to those destined to freelance as a sort of ‘cosmic sign’ pushing us toward this destiny? Or what? My friends who enjoy the corporate life don’t have these BOSS issues.

Hi Kharim, I think we have had the same reason for starting a blog. There are a lot of things I have discovered about myself since I entered the field of blogging. While the process is hard, it has given me a sense of well-being and competence, not to mention the friends I have gained. 🙂

It was just the site that I wanted to learn my stuff in building a successful blog. I have gone a far way and can manage on my own now, but I still find myself sniffing through your archives still educating myself. Very interesting post. Many were already inclined to making money online as a source of income but, how many will succeed? It may depend on the interest and hardwork of anyone who wanted to do it. Hard work and research is required. Through articles like this and by keeping on reading and learning, anyone may succeed. Thank you for this very informative post.

Hey Kharim,

My motives are similar to yours. The fact is that I like writing and it’s kinda of a hobby for me. Of course back then I’ve just heard about Google AdSense and thought that it’s a piece of cake and after a month or two, I will be getting some 3-4 hundred dollar checks. Obviously it didn’t worked out that way. LOL! Since that didn’t work, I decided to just keep going to see how much traffic I can get. Then one day the comments started rolling in and I just got hooked up in replying, commenting on other blogs, etc.

  LOL I thought the same with Google Adsense as well. I thought it was easy money, but it’s not. You have to have lots of traffic for Adsense to work well for you. Well so far I have got one check and working my way up to my second check 🙂

Hi Kahrim,

This is a very motivating post, I feel the exact same way as you do when it comes to blogging and internet marketing as a whole. As of right now I not in position to make it my full time gig, but even before the start of the year I have been working hard to get out of the rat race. I know with a little more time and effort I make a great just like you are.

Hey Kharim, I learned about your blog after seeing a comment of yours on Lisa’s blog.

I started this online fun after purchasing a SBI package (again learning about it on Lisa’s website) and built a static website. I am satisfied with it but I wanted to connect with a lot of people and maybe try and help some of them with stuff I know, love, learned.

So I started the blog (the one that I link to here) and my plan was to “chit chat” about my passion (shooting), travel because I travel a lot and social media because I use it a lot.

But reading other people blogs for literally years now, I noticed a bunch of stuff I wanted to share and give my opinion on, so I wrote a few posts that were more of “blogging about blogging” ones. They were accepted great and I am happy about that.

However, now my blog is completely changing direction, not because I planned it that way but: shooting is a small niche and so different that the rest going on in this blogosphere; travel posts I have not given up on but they were not as popular as others, and “classic” blogging has been something that is the most popular on my blog.

You can see that my last post has about 110 comments now, less than half are my replies, but the post has been accepted great.

There is my story and I can’t wait to see how this develops 🙂 I would say that we had the same reasons to get into blogging except the money part, because I still have my day job and I am not sure how and if I could make blogging my income source.

  The reason why many people fail with blogging is because they think too much about the money and not on the building up of their blog. Blogging to make money is about writing to please your audience, networking, building relationships with your readers, and the list goes on.
  
  Another factor why some fail is because they don’t invest. For example, with the Thesis Theme. Its really great and they don’t want to buy the theme. You have to spend money to make money.
  
  My aim is to get success. That is the reason for choosing this domain name, thanks to Lisa Irby for helping me to choose the perfect domain for my blog :).

      Thats true Kimi, and if our readers realize that we only want to make money (in which we all do) and stop publishing articles which will help them, then the will eventually leave.
      
      We should not make it obvious, but mix marketing and quality content, and then we will truly be successful. 🙂

Hi Kharim,

I started blogging to spread the word about my online opportunity.

After this initial motivation I developed a passion for blogging. Like yourself, I came to deeply enjoy the process of writing helpful posts and sharing these ideas with a community of like-minded bloggers. The networking aspect of blogging is fun and prospering for all; never thought that I’d be as happy with it as I am not but I guess it was because I was a “shy guy” when new to blogging 😉

I also enjoy helping new bloggers. Being able to inspire someone to start a life of freedom is a wonderful feeling that’s tough to duplicate. Just like yourself Kharim I worked some pretty tough jobs that I felt confined in. Learning what it takes to run a successful blog and sharing the tips freely with others is what it’s all about.

  I have always been interested in websites but the day that I discovered blogging I just had to start one of my own. It was really easy to start because I was already reading other blogs and then had an idea of what I wanted to do. I also got great tips from Lisa Irby and Rob Rammuny. And I really thank them.
  
  Blogging to make money is really challenging, not really easy. But I have decided that I don’t want to work for someone who want to treat me like a slave, so blogging to make money is my way to go.
