When it comes to making money online blogging is a great way in which you can do so.

If you’re a blog owner then you can earn tons of money online, but of course this depends on the approach that you take in to it. Many bloggers make a living online and they do so by building a blog which people flock to. In turn they can now sell advertising space and make tons of money.

Apart from affiliate marketing, selling your own products or pay per clicks, selling advertisments on your blog can help you to earn money from your blog.

Last week I made $90 by selling ads on this blog. Imagine if I made that amount of money selling ads on my blog every week. That means for each month I would be pulling in at least $360.

In this blog post I will give you some tips on how you can sell advertisements on your blog so that you can make some money.

In order to make money selling ads on your blog then you need to build up your blog traffic so that these advertisers have another reason for choosing your blog to advertise on.

If your blog traffic is low then you will find it hard selling ads on your blog no matter how cheap you make it. So your first step in selling ads on your blog is to build up your blog traffic.

Set Up Advertise Here Page – Your Advertise Here page plays a very big role in selling advertisements on your blog as well. If you are selling ads on your blog, don’t have an advertise here page and doesn’t have any success in selling ads, then you need to set up your page right away.

On your advertise here page, you need to give a few details about your blog such as monthly traffic, your Alexa rank, current advertisement space that are available, price for the ads and also some purchasing guidelines.

Doing this will give you more chances of selling out the ad spaces on your blog.

Advertisement Price, Size And Location – Location, location location… Another important factor to consider when selling ads if you want to do so effectively.

Most of the times blog owners don’t make money selling ads from their blog because of the location where they want to sell it. You have to be thoughtful in where advertisers would like to see their banner on your blog. Visit your competitors blog and look to see where they have placed their ads for sale.

Pricing of your advertisements for sale is one of the things you need to look into if you want to make money selling ads on your blog. If your ads are too costs too much then chances are that you won’t sell a single spot on your blog. You should set prices according to your blog’s traffic as well.     It is good to give selling of advertisement spaces a trial, because Google Adsense is too slow to yield any tangible income for bloggers who don’t have tonnes of traffic.

      Google Adsense is really slow. You have to wait a long while to make $100 to get payout, while selling ads on your blog you can sell 1 ad for $100 and get paid instantly.

    A very good article. Selling ads on your site can be a little tricky. If you are going to use Google ads, you really need a lot of traffic.

    Sometimes even without having much traffic but with good alexa and high pr you can still sell advertisements because some people buy ad space in the form of links..
    I recently sold ad space for 150$ on my blog which has pr3 and good alexa.. But was hit by penguin update…

    Advertising is a good way to make money from blog.One can make a good amount from it.But there has to be some limit while placing ads and selling them through blog.And most importantly one has to keep in mind the ads being placed should have relevancy and placed on proper niche.

      Well ads doesn’t really have to be niche related. Once the site being advertised on my blog is not adult content, scam or hacking, gambling or promotion violence or hatred then it can be advertised on my blog.

          But then again, you may never know who is interested in your content. So if a site has a bit of similarities then I guess you can place the ad there if the advertiser insist on having his ad displayed on your blog.

    These are great tips for everyone with a blog. Monetizing your blog is an excellent way of making some extra income or even earning a full-time living from home. I personally prefer Google AdSense over trying to sell space on my blog directly but both or decent strategies for making money.

      I got banned from Google Adsense for what I don’t know, so I decided to sell advertisement. So that makes me get $100 in one month instead of waiting on Google Adsense to pay me when I get clicks.

      Plus most of my Adsense units hardly got clicked.

But its a difficult task to me. recently i have sign up for buy sell ads … and used on my blog for a month but its doesn’t generated any income i.e my ads are not getting sell. hope i will try your tips to get rid of this.

      When I had Adsense on this blog, I had to wait on my visitors to make clicks on my Adsense units. Then I had to wait until that add up to $100 before I get paid the following month.

      With selling my own ads, I can sell one ad space on my blog and get paid $100 immediately.

      One thing you need to do pal is increase your traffic. I tried to sell ads on this blog in the early stages as well but was unsuccessfull in doing it.

      Once I increased my traffic then it got easier.

    This post is nice because it shows that you can indeed make money from your blog, just by offering advertising space. You have the traffic so it’s not surprising but hopefully other will realise that they can achieve the same thing as well.

    Selling independantly or via BuySellAds I would suggest. Pretty much anything to automate the whole process is a winner.

    To be honest, I have not set my blog up for advertising but in the near future this is something I will need to do. I like the idea of allowing advertisers to choose the ads themselves. OIO ad manager seems promising, I can see myself using a tool like that, thanks for mentioning.

      Well most of my advertisers have PayPal, so that is my main way of accepting payments.

      If the advertiser doesn’t have access to PayPal then other offline payments can be implemented such as Western Union.

          Well if you are collecting lots of money and the advertiser is able to pay via Western Union then it can work.

          For example a person wants to advertise on your site and knows that your site has tons of traffic. The person can do a 6 month payment plan and the ads will be active for 6 months. Then you can collect through Western Union.

          But if it is a small amount then I don’t see the sense.
