I have been blogging for months and it seems like I am not getting anywhere.

I don’t have any comments on my blog posts.

I hardly have 50 visitors per day.

I don’t make any money from my blog.

I am so frustrated right now about this blogging thing… quitting is my next option.

I Give Up... I'm Going To Quit Blogging

The above statements may be used by some persons who stopped blogging.

Sorry if I scared you with that post headline and introduction, but I would never quit blogging. I love blogging too much to give up right now because I am passionate about it. I might not be one of the top bloggers but I certainly will not give up.

“I am going to quit blogging” is a statement made by some people who give up on blogging easily. I am not a quitter, I want to be successful and in order to become a successful blogger then I have to keep on putting in the work.

There is only one place where success comes before work and that is in the dictionary. So if you want to become a successful blogger then you have to put in the hard work to become successful.

Here are some reasons why many people give up on blogging…

[box type=”spacer”]Not Passionate About Blogging[/box]

One thing that true bloggers have that will help them to continue blogging and that is passion.

When you have true passion for blogging then this simply means that you love and enjoying blogging, writing and reading blog posts from other bloggers.

Without passion then you will want to give up on blogging easily. If you haven’t started blogging as yet and you want to become a blogger, then make sure that you start a blog on a topic that you know about and enjoy the different aspects of this topic.

Lack of passion for blogging leads to:

  • Boredom (you come to the conclusion that blogging is boring)
  • You don’t know what to write about
  • You become a content thief
  • Your blog doesn’t get any traffic
  • Your blog doesn’t generate any money
  • If you do get comments, you don’t reply to them

If you really want to make blogging work for you then you have to start your blog on a topic that you have some knowledge about.

For example: Let’s say that you love dogs. You have dogs of your own and know how to teach them tricks. You know how to get your dogs to be obedient and not mess up the house or yard. This is a great foundation that you can lay to start a blog about dogs.

You shouldn’t run off an start a tech blog because you heard that it can generate tons of cash online. Moreover, you weren’t such a techie person and doesn’t even know the difference between megapixel or resolution on your digital camera.

It is always best to start a blog on something that you love. Something that you have knowledge about. And most important, start a blog on something that you love.

Being passionate about your blog’s topic leads to more success. You will always have something to blog about. Blogging will be much easier for you, and when you enjoy what you do then getting traffic to your blog and making money money from your blog will be much easier that you thought.

[box type=”spacer”]Does Not Get Blog Traffic[/box]

Another reason why a person may quit blogging is because they don’t get traffic to their blog.

If your blog fails to get traffic then it proves that it is not all that successful.

If you don’t have any audience to blog to then this will cause some sort of frustration and then quitting would most likely be your next option.

Without traffic coming to a blog then this means no money making process will be taking place. We all know that in order to make money from a blog then traffic is needed to make this happen.

New bloggers are sometimes the first to quit blogging because a lack of incoming traffic to their blog. This is because some new bloggers think that as soon as they launch their blog then traffic is going to come flooding their blog and causing them to make money over night while they sleep.

Most pro bloggers have sleepless nights working on their blog so that they can get the needed traffic which will help them to be successful. Making money over night is not acquired in one night. It make take a few months and even years before some of these pro bloggers make they amount of money that they are making now, so that they can make a living online.

Reasons why some bloggers fail to get traffic to their blog:

  • They don’t do guest blogging
  • They don’t participate in forum posting
  • They don’t do blog commenting
  • They don’t write articles that are optimized for search engine
  • They don’t write high quality articles

In order to get traffic then you need to do blog commenting, guest blogging, forum posting and be sure to optimize your blog posts for search engine results.

[box type=”spacer”]Makes No Money Blogging[/box]

If a blog is not getting much traffic then the money making part of a blog will prove to be unsuccessful.

Hardly you hear that a blog makes over $100 monthly if it gets 10 visitors per day. This is because it is somewhat impossible.

If you want to make money from your blog then traffic is what is needed in order to do so effectively.

Even if a blog has a decent amount of traffic, without proper monetization then this blog will also fail to make money.

Did you get to read my previous article about how to make money from your blog by selling advertisements? In that article I spoke about how I made $90 in one week selling ads on this blog (I know this is not much but this helps me to pay for my hosting and to buy plugins as well to boost this blog).

In order to make a blog that makes money then you have to apply the first point in this post which is being passionate about blogging. Being passionate about the blog topic that you have chosen will set the foundation for you to become a successful blogger.

After that, you have to apply the second point in this post which speaks about getting blog traffic. All successful pro bloggers have a high number of traffic on their blog and this is why they are successful. You have to do what it takes to get traffic and this is what will help you to make the money.

This point that you are now reading about making money can be tricky. You are passionate about blogging, you are successful in driving traffic to your content but then money still isn’t coming.

What you need to do is take a day to analyze your blog and see what you are doing wrong.

If you use Google Adsense as a means to monetize your blog then you need to try different ad units in different location. You should also allow your ads to blend in with your blog theme so that you can maximize your chances of getting more clicks.

If you do affiliate marketing then you should give your readers a reason why they should buy the products that you are recommending. Write great reviews and this will help to generate some sales or leads.

[box]In Conclusion[/box]

Don’t give up on blogging just yet if you are reading this post. There are many ways to get traffic just do what works best for your.

Keep on writing great articles, engage with other bloggers and your blog readers. Participate in blog commenting, guest posting and forum posting as well. Doing these will help you to become successful and will also help you to make money over night.

If you want some tips on how you can become successful then please leave a comment and I will see how best I can help you to become a successful blogger.

It is very easy in the early days to feel this way. The problem is, without seo, the only real way to build traffic to your blog is via other blogs commenting and engaging, blogging networks and such. This kind of traffic does not click on AdSense so i guess affiliate ads are the best option?

    • Reply

      Hey Hayley,

You are right about that. Most of the times the Adsense will go ignored, so it is best to work with affiliate marketing. Plus affiliate marketing is one of the best ways to make money online.

      Thanks for the comment.

Not being passionate about blogging could definitely hurt you in your content area. The reader can sense it if you don’t enjoy what you are writing about. Good stuff.

    • Reply

      Hey Wade,

I strongly agree with you on that. You would not be able to publish great content and then stop publishing content totally.

One must have passions so that blogging work well.

Passion for the topic that we would like to blog about is crucial in sustaining one’s enthusiasm for blogging. Lack of passion for a topic may lead to boredom and eventually abandonment of the blog.

This is awesome Kharim. Also I have seen that many newbies are very eager to earn and they don’t focus on content and traffic. All just they want is to earn and earn without any hard work. Well thats a fantastic and must read post for them.
Keep up the nice work mate.

    • Reply

You are right. Eager to earn from a new blog is like forcing a new born baby to walk. This blog needs to grow. You have to feed that new blog with contents and attract visitors. That is the only way they will make money.

      Thanks for the comment, Ashwani

seriously the initial stage of blogging is very difficult and 70 percent of new bloggers quit blogging at that time coz they dont get expected traffic and money ……….

Yep. That’s the main reason why most new bloggers quit, because the money and traffic doesn’t come their way.

Love this post. i hope you get your readers to see the message. I read it and put forward myself, when you put your passions togetrher with your business you are now establishing a successful formula. And when that passion, and that business are promoted by your blog which you write with complete awesome passion you have the way to lift it all off.

    • Reply

you are so right about that, Larry.

Passion is what speaks for it self when it comes to being a dedicated blogger.

      Thanks for the comment pal.

    Hi Kharim,

Yes – I do agree. Especially with people only starting to blog – They tend to get lost a bit more than the normal person. If you do think about quitting – Don’t! Blogging becomes easier the more you do it. And the more you practise SEO to increase traffic and page rank , the easier it becomes and the more readership you will gain.

I have always loved sharing my ideas and thoughts on the things that I love to do and this is the reason why I chose blogging.

I think you need to work on your blogs for getting traffic, for that purpose you use twitter and facebook fan page from there you can find traffic who like to read blogs but I advice you do not stop blogging if you are not getting traffic.

Nice! Twitter and Facebook can help to generate lots of traffic. You just have to do what gets people to your blog.

Kharim, Many people give up because they expect results almost instantl and when this fails to arrive when they expect, the self doubt sets in. I bet most bloggers have gone through this and many have quit. The difference between success and failure is time. As long as the writing is good and promotion of the blog is good of course.

If all bloggers had more patience and the self driven enthusiasm, then they would have become successful.

Blogging I think requires lots of passion in order for it to work.

Thanks for the comment as well.

    Hi Kharim,
Once i was shocked by reading the title and the little description,i thought you are going to Quit. But thank god its not going to be like that.

Most of the bloggers start doing it just to make money but they forget that blogging is about passion for writing and sharing what you know.If a blogger is not passionate then he/she can never make an impact on others.

Traffic only comes to your blog if you are providing what readers want.

I’m scared 🙁 Really you scared me with that headline, I thought Kharim is not a blogger anymore :D.

All those reasons are valid ones, The most common reason among those people who quite blogging is that they are truly passionate about blogging, but they don’t have passion about the topic they’re blogging about.

I would never give up blogging that easily. Once a blogger always a blogger.

  18. Rajkumar Jonnala

    Hello Kharim,

When things do not turn out the way we dream, the first instinct of our mind says that we should give up. Let me remind us of the famous saying, ‘Winners never quit and quitters never win’. I do know that this saying may not hold good in worst of the adversities but giving up on something once you treasured is a heart break. Blogging is an interesting stream for many of us and when we should give our best to the extent possible.Like in any stream, ups and downs are common here too. We need to be on a learning spree and then blogging becomes an art, easily.

    • Reply

You are so right about that statement, “Winners never quit and quitters never win”.

If you want to or desire to become a successful blogger then quitting isn’t an option. You have to keep on pushing forward.

Others may have more success than you but still you can achieve that level of success if you put in the added work.

I appreciate your comment and thanks again for stopping by.

    Hey Kharim,
Giving up is not the ideal key to everything. I feel blogging is the greatest time pass one can ever have and its also very interesting. Well, what I feel that you can get more comments on your blog if you update your blog regularly with unique and fresh content and also your content should be relevant enough. Make it simple so that the readers understand it easily. I am sure your blog will be getting a lot of comments as well as visitors everyday. All the best!! I hope your blog just rocks.

      Hey Aditi,

You are right about that, blogging is really interesting especially when you enjoy doing it and also a great pass time as you mentioned. I like to post on a regular basis. Even though most times I am busy, I still have to find time to do blogging and the relevant stuff to get traffic to my blog.

And yes I am getting tons of comments. For example if you check my previous post to this one, it is already in my list of top 5 articles on this blog 🙂

      Thanks for your comment.

These are some common reasons, when you see someone quitting blogging. That’s why it’s really important to consider your interest first while selecting your blogging niche.

If you’re not passionate about your blogging niche then your blog can’t survive longer.

    • Reply

I must agree with you Aasma.

Selecting a topic (niche) that you enjoy and have knowledge about will help you to develop an interest in blogging. If you start a blog on a topic that you don’t have much knowledge about then you will begin to strugle as a blogger and then fail to become a top blogger.

Thanks for your input on my article, I really appreciate it.

    Hello Kharim,

Many must have felt the same about blogging when nothing worked for them. I have been blogging for years now but never felt that I should quit despite facing setbacks. It is all about passion and commitment. Nobody becomes a great blogger overnight. It needs a lot of investment in the form of writing good content, encouraging contributors, upgrading the sites and staying abreast with the latest in the world.

In my economics class (and just a tad in accounting) this spring we focused heavily on product differentiation. I see many blogs that can easily fit into the same categories, and basically say the same things… Why they painted the wall this color, what sparked their favorite recipe… The secret and the posts that I really enjoy reading are the ones that are different. I love hearing personal stories that actually apply to the overall idea. Sometimes I like the short answers-a-question… Anyways dunno if this helps from a reader’s perspective but adding to everything you’ve already stated, I’d add try to be a bit different than the next guy.

    • Reply

I must agree with the last part of your comment. Being different from the other guy will help us to not give up on blogging. It will also show how unique we can be and this will also help to generate traffic to your blog.

      Thanks for the comment.

So true, we hear something like this all time. Blogging is not a get rich quick scheme. It takes time. Bloggers are different species of people, slow and steady a bit like the snail who gets there in the end. One really has to have a passion for something and not do it because there is money in it. Money comes later. So to those who are quitting, let them quit, this means less competition. See you on the other side.

    • Reply

You are right about that. If blogging was a get rich quick scheme then tons of other people would be doing it and also I would be a millionaire by now.

Passion is what will make people continue to blog and this is what is needed in order to make money blogging.

Thanks again Shalu for your comment.

  27. Tuan

Phew, I thought you gave up blogging after reading the title of this post. That would be a disaster. 😀
    Fortunately it doesn’t happen.

    Hi Kharim,

I greatly enjoyed reading this post. Indeed most newbie bloggers think that they will blog all the way to financial freedom in a matter of a couple months or so. But it involves some work, passion and lots of experimenting. 16 secrets of successful blogging is (I believe) a greatly complimenting post on successful blogging.

LOL you scared me with the Title of this article, kharim bro.

I didn’t expected this from you and will have not believed the title if I have not read your article on – you are not going to accept anymore guest author.

I thought the way you stopped Guest Author you are stopping your blogging in a same way.

Anyway, the point you mentioned here are the lines I used to hear from many newbies who contacts me on FB asking for tips on their blogging career. I do help them but later in few months they come with a message – I quite!

I really ask these person to give hardwork to their new ventures but they are unable to as a result their blogging gets stopped their itself.
