Are you a blogger? Are you passionate about blogging? Are you new to blogging and want to try it out? The question for today is “What do you blog about?”

Blogging seems to be taking over the Internet little by little everyday and everywhere. Almost every other site you come across is a blog and (or) has a blog on it. Celebrities are doing it, teenagers in high school, and just about everybody else. But as a webmaster “What do you blog about?”

Making a blog is easy to set up and install but making it successful can be a great task. Whenever you see a successful blog with great contents, lots of traffic and subscribers, doesn’t it make you wish this blog was yours? Well no it’s not. Enough of the day dreaming.

Below there are 5 main steps to making your blog successful:

1) Your blog title.
Your blog title or the domain name has ALOT to do with getting targeted traffic to it. For example: If you came across a blog which was titled, Online Photoshop Training For $50.00 or Photoshop Tips. Which blog would you be more interest in? I don’t know about you but I would be interested in the Photoshop Tips titled blog.

2) The theme or layout.
As soon as a visitors come on your blog the layout and theme is the first thing that greets them. If everything is jumbled up or too much ads it just might turn your visitors off and never want them to come back.

3) Your blog’s content.
Always provide you audience with rich content, meaning they will want to read whatever you have posted in your blog. When adding a new post always get straight to the point and stick to it.

4) Interacting with your visitors
Have a section on your blog where your audience can contact you, or whenever they make a comment on your post you can also make a reply so that they know that you care about them.

5) Post regularly
New contents on your blog makes your visitors come back to read them. You don’t want your audience to stray after you have “captured their minds.” Always have fresh new content for them to read.

Following those 5 steps closely can make your blog a big success. In the next topic I will talk about promoting your blog and getting traffic.

    Hey Kharim,

Its good to see you out in the blogosphere. I’m also a web developer from Jamaica and I’ve been trying to find other Jamaicans who are taking blogging seriously. Good post by the way.

I’ve just started blogging seriously as well and I’m mainly blogging about technology and web development while sometimes straying to other topics.

Keep up the good work, I would love to see more Jamaicans taking blogging seriously. Check out my blog and let me know what you think.

Thanks for your visit and also your correction. I wrote the article with my iPhone so the dictionary must have placed that there. I will edit it.

Well your pattern is almost like blogging (i think). Why not start a blog and see what your benefits might be?

    You may never know 🙂

    Hi Kharim,

Just came to check your blog out from website babble. Good start!

What I do isn’t really blogging, I have a static website that updates by rss when I add new pages. I have been trying to write more like a blogger, as in be a bit more personable, but still not so over the top that my site is all about me! Hard to tell sometimes…

One little thing, is this sentence meant to read this way:
“Below there are 5 main steps to making your blog stressful:”
