Everyday there is a new blogger entering the blogosphere and I love to see people converting themselves into a blogger. This new blogger can be compared to a young child, this is because they often have lots of questions to ask. A young child might ask the mother; Where do babies come from? Why is the sky blue? What are stars made of?And the list goes on and on. Bloggers are just like that. They often have questions about blogging and searching for answers to which will help them to become a better blogger.

I’m always getting email, Twitter tweets, Facebook messages and blog comments from new bloggers asking all sort of questions.

In this post I will share some of the questions that new bloggers ask and provide the best answers to them.

How To Get Traffic To My Blog?

This is question can be classed as the million dollar question because it has been asked over and over again, even by the same new blogger more than once. We all know that the only way our blog is going to be successful is by having traffic, lots of traffic. Without traffic then our blog will be like a toy tossed in the back of the closet where nobody will see it. This is why new bloggers are so eager to get traffic to their new blog.

There are tons of place where you can get traffic to your blog and the best traffic as well.

  • Social Media/ Social Networking/ Social Bookmarking
  • Millions of people are always on social sites, so why not get social and get traffic to your blog. Twitter, Facebook, Stumble Upon, Delicious, Digg, BlogEngage, BloKube, SERPd, etc. are some of the many sites that I use to get targeted traffic to my blog.

People are always online and are interested in may different things. You have to find the people who shares the same passion as you about the same niche. Using Facebook is a great way to do that. Make friends and start chatting with them, once you find something in common with the same niche as your blog, you can now share your blog link with this new friend and right there and then you have a new visitor to your blog. The same goes for Twitter.

With the social bookmarking sites, submit your blog or blog articles to these type of sites. Once your article catches the eyes of people on that social bookmarking site, you will have new visitors coming to your blog.

  • Forums
  • Another great place to get traffic to your blog is from forums. Forums of the same niche as your blog that is. What you need to do in order to get traffic from forum is to find a forum with high traffic that shares the same topic as your blog, as soon as you join go to the introduction forum and introduce yourself so that the existing members know that you are the latest member. Scroll through the forum and select topics that you know about and join in the discussion. The more post you make on the forum then the more the members will know you.

After that, you will edit your profile on the forum and then add your blog link to your forum signature. This link will now be available on each post that you have made. If you make helpful posts in the forum the members will know that you have been helpful and this will make them want to find out more about your blog, and visit your blog for more helpful information.

  • Other Blogs
  • Other blogs are the best way to get targeted traffic as well. To get traffic from other blog is very simple. All you have to do is make comments, upbuilding comments and other readers of that blog will want to visit your blog.

You can also participating in guest blogging. This is a super way of getting traffic. If you write really well then you can submit guest posts if that blog accepts guest bloggers and then you will benefit greatly in the long run.

  • Search Engine
  • People are always searching for something and they are searching for information that you have on your blog. To get traffic from search engine then you need to make good use of keywords on your blog posts, submit your site map to Google, get a high page rank and write original articles.

It is also best use keywords in blog post titles so as to rank better in search engine results.

How To Start Making Money From My Blog?

In order to start making money from your blog then you must have the traffic. So of you plan on making money without the traffic then you will fail in doing so.

There are many ways you can make money from your blog, you have to find to the best ways that your blog generates cash and then maximize on it. It makes no sense you try to make money from your blog in every way possible because it just won’t work.

  • Affiliate Marketing
  • This is a great way to make money online. Finding products and selling it to your blog visitors, and this earns you a commission for every sale made.

  • Google Adsense
  • This a payper click program where ads are displayed on your blog. Each click made on any ad will help you earn some money. When your account reaches over $100 at the end of any month, you will be awarded with a check in the following month.

  • Sell Ads
  • You can also let advertisers buy advertising space on your blog. This is a great way of getting money from your blog. Be aware that nobody will buy ads on your blog if your traffic is low. So this is another reason to get lots of traffic before you think about making money from your blog.

    Which Niche Makes More Money?

Each niche can make money. All you have to do is stick with the niche that you love. If you do what you love then the money will come. Blogging about a niche that you don’t have any knowledge about will only lead to frustration when you thought that niche would make you rich and you ended up with no money.

Once you take pride in your niche, get traffic to your blog with the same passion as you, then you can turn that traffic into money. So stick with what you love.

Why Are My Visitors Not Leaving Comments On My Blog?

Most of the times new blogs hardly ever get any comment. This is because the blog is new. So what will help me to get my first comments, you may ask.

Well to get comments your content has to be of very high value. Meaning your article must be beneficial to the reader. Once your content is great then you will get comments. Another thing is to start making comments on other blogs, because sometimes the blog owners will be kind enough to thank you by coming to your blog and also leaving a comment.

Be sure to make it easy to comment, this will increase the percentage of making your blog readers want to comment.

Here are some other ways to get your blog readers to leave comments on your blog.

What Can I Do To Increase My Adsense Revenue?

If you are using Google Adsense as a means of monetization for your blog then in order to help increase your revenue you need to take into consideration; color, size and placement.

Color: You have to make your Adsense units match the colors of your blog so that your ads will blend in with the rest of your blog.

Size: The 300×250 unit, 728×90 unit and 336×280 unit seems to get the most attention. Try them out and see.

Placement: The location of your ads also has an effect on the amount of clicks it get. Place your ad unit below the blog post, in the side bar, header or footer and see which works best for you in generating clicks.

These tips will help you to make more with Google Adsense.

Where Can I Get New Blog Post Ideas/Topics?

The same place where you get traffic as I mentioned above you can also get blog post ideas as well. Forums and other blogs are great places for picking up ideas for your next blog post. Another way to get blog post ideas is to think about topics that have not been discussed as yet and do some research that you can write well on this.

You can browse forums and blogs of the same niche as your blog, this will get your thinking juices flowing so that you can even come up with at least 5 new blog topics at once.

Which Affiliate Program Pays The Most?

It’s not always best to go for the affiliate program that pays you the most commission, because you might not make a single sale. It’s best to choose or join a program that has something to do with your blog. This way you can be better at marketing this product.

Choosing a product such as a cat litter box to market on your flowers blog because the cat litter box pays lots of commission would be a stupid idea. It’s best to market flowers pot, plant foods, and other things like those because you are dealing with flowers, not cats. When a flowers lover comes to your blog and see that affiliate link that you placed in the side bar related to flowers, it will help to make an affiliate sale.

I agree 100% – if you do what you love, what you’re passionate about, then the money will come. Don’t first pursue the money and expect anything to happen.

Yep thats what I always tell new bloggers, just do what you love and then the money will follow. It makes no sense to rush after money and then you stumble. Passion is what works.

      Hi Kharim,
you are posting the most important questions that the new bloggers would ask, but there is one more question that the seasoned bloggers would soon have – where to outsource a good content writers.
      Regards. Robert

That’s really a massive content for one article Kharim. I would like to point out that there is no traffic better than traffic sent through Google and do leverage this kind of traffic, you will need to do a lot of work for your blog.

I think because blog focuses on many different topics, bloggers often have a hard time to find a keyword and optimize for it. But some blogs got great traffic and honestly, I really don’t know their secret sauce. Do you have any idea?

Google traffic is really great because that would be targeted traffic. People search for things and your link appears, they click and come to your site and your content may be appealing to them if it is well written.

Great guide for newbies. I have noticed that most successful bloggers often recommend using social networking. This is something that I definitely need to work on. I am one of the few people I know who is not on Facebook or Twitter. It’s never really been my thing.

I had never heard of sites like blogengage until I started visiting blogs like yours. I’m definitely going to look into that and the other social networking sites that you’ve have mentioned.

      Thanks for the tips!

It is not at all that easy to get traffic, but by working tirelessly nothing is impossible. As a journal or hobby blogger work was rosy at first but the path after that was a very big struggle specially to keep the traffic flowing. Reading this article has roused an inspiration in me to go back blogging again.
I found the article very helpful and I’m sure many new bloggers specially will get motivated reading it.

      Hey Kharim,

      Thanks for the awesome article!

You really out did yourself with this one. Many good questions here for a the new coming bloggers and even morderate bloggers. The number one question usually is always how do you I get traffic? It’s asked over and over to get everyone’s different opinion.

You listed some great ways of getting traffic. I don’t even use all the methods you use and I’m really starting to see my traffic grow the more I stick with it. What really matters is your consistancy and patience. Traffic does not come overnight.

The only way your going to get traffic the way you want is hard work.

I have to get my social game up. The only social site I really use is Twitter. Now that I got another laptop I plan on getting my hands dirty with some bookmarking & youtube videos.

      God bless,

      Hey Kharim,

Now that’s what I call a comprehensive overview on increasing your blog’s popularity. It is great that social media is first on your list, since although disregarded by many, it has a huge potential. Twitter, Facebook, StumbleUpon, Digg and many more can all be great sources of traffic with the right amount of effort put into them. The tip on getting comments is 100% valid. In order to receive comments on your blog, you need to start commenting on other people’s blogs. No other way.

      Great job!

Very helpful post for newbie bloggers. Search engine traffic is really good traffic, but I like to use other sources too. I don’t like to put all my eggs in one basket. Sometimes I be surprised where someone has found my site at.

hey Kharim, hello again! Once again a usefull post. You are giving the most commons questions a newbie would ask. About monetizing a blog, I would go with affiliate marketing more than any other source. Also, let’s remind them that affiliate programs are free and can search for those in their niche by typing “name of niche” + affiliate program.
