Is it bad to put money in the forefront of your mind if you are a blogger?

No I don’t think so. It’s a great way to escape the 9-5 work lifestyle.

But is it bad to think about make money blogging?

No at all. Most bloggers blog to make money and that’s the truth.

If you are delivering great quality contents to your blog readers and you are able to drive traffic to your blog then I guess it’s alright to think about the benefits of blogging. But where do bloggers go wrong when they focus too much on making money online? Really interesting question you might add.

I am going to help you to understand to to focus on making money while blogging and at the same time how it can captivate your mind to help destroy your blog.

New Bloggers Making Money

It’s not impossible for a new blogger to make money online, but bear in mind that this new blogger has to put in lots of hard work and promotion in order to start making money online.

They have to get it right from the start if they want to make money online. This hard work includes writing lots of quality contents to satisfy their readers, learn how to drive traffic, learn how to build a powerful community, learn how to keep your community entertained with blog posts and, learn how to socialize with your blog readers and other bloggers.

Should money be his/her main focus?

Well you can’t tell a new blogger not to focus on making money online because I also had that mindset when I found out that you can make lots of cash online. I would say that I have been successful with this blog and I am so proud of myself.

But why have I been successful with this blog?
To tell you the truth, I have a few affiliate links and two Google Adsense units but I haven’t really started monetizing this blog as yet. I plan to start monetizing when I hit below the 100,000 mark on Alexa. The current Alexa rank is at 223,589.

I have been successful with this blog because I focus more on driving traffic and writing blog posts. I am not caught up with those “make money over night” scams. When the time is right then I will start to affiliate market my links more.

Top Bloggers Making Money

We all know that top bloggers are pulling in six-figures and making a good amount of month each month.

But is it possible for a top blogger to go from hero to zero?

The answer is yes. If that top blogger makes the money get to his head and stop posting to satisfy his/her blog readers then that blog will slowly die.

We can all get caught up in the money making and not pay attention to the more important things. If you start making money online then it doesn’t end there. You have to continue doing what you, continue to promote and market your blog.

Lets Summarize This…

What I am saying is that you can be focused on making money but I should not be your first priority. Writing great contents and building up your blog by driving traffic, and build up a powerful clogging community.

If you are already making money continue doing what you are doing to get along in life and keep blogging 🙂

    Thanks for reminding us of this very important concept Kharim. I think it’s definitely okay for making money to be the end-goal, but I think you’re absolutely right: you should focus on your readers, and providing value first. After all, what are you making money for anyway?

    It’s very true. I’ve been visiting a few blogs for years and a few of them have completely sold out. I understand making money with your blog but these sites have gone so far that the content is second to advertising. Ads and popups litter the blog which make the content almost unbearable.

    I guess I’m just trying to say that if you do plan to make money with your blog. Integrate how you do so without comprising the community you’ve build along the way.

    For me my main focus in blogging is to share knowledge and opinions as I love making new friends online. That’s how blogging becomes my passion until today. And to be honest I found that we could make money online with blogging quite late and it becomes my side-target besides getting satisfaction from blogging.

    Yep, telling a new blogger not to focus on the money can be seem very impractical. (I know first hand :)) I really think it’s one of those things you have to learn the hard way, because if you are trying to earn money blogging it can seem ridiculous to not to think about the money side of things. But you’re right, you need to focus on content first and the money will come. 🙂 Keep it up!

    It’s so hard to answer lol, to be honest, i want to blog and earn from the blog too, both are the same level, but of course i enjoy blogging so much, and blogging is my most priority 😀
