When blogging there are certain things that you need to ignore.
Other things should never be ignored… well that’s if your desire is to become a successful blogger.
Most pro bloggers today take into consideration the things that are most important to their blog.
What about us existing bloggers or new and upcoming bloggers? Do you take the time out to address the most important things which can help to make you a successful blogger?
You may be wondering what important things I am talking about. Well, please read further to find out.
[box type=”red”]Never Ignore SEO[/box]
When writing your blog posts, do you normally take SEO (search engine optimization) into consideration?
If you really want to get targeted traffic to your blog and lots of it, then you need to optimize your articles for search engine results.
Targeted traffic does make a blog successful. This is because the visitors to that particular blog finds information on that blog which is tailored to them.
The visitors find information which targets their needs, hence this is called targeted visitors.
Optimizing your blog for search engine results not only help to bring in targeted traffic to your blog, but also increases the chances of you making some money. Most pro bloggers will tell you that they have a higher conversation rate through traffic from search engines rather than referral traffic sources.
[box]Tips On How To Get Search Engine Traffic[/box]
When writing your blog posts, in order to get search engine traffic you need to remember keywords. When a person searches for information in Google they basically will type in a few words or phrases in the search bar. Those few words or phrases can be used as keywords to get blog traffic.
What you now want to do is sprinkle these keyword on your blog post, just as you would do with the sprinkles on a freshly baked cupcake.
Here is how you do that:
- Use keywords in title
- Insert keywords in subheadings
- Use the keyword in the first sentence of the article
- Remember to use the keyword in the last sentence as well
- Add the keyword to the keyword meta tag section
- Use the keyword in the description meta tag section
- When you write remember to sprinkle keywords as you go along
- Insert images with the keyword in the title and alt tag
- Use SEO friendly URL on your blog
- Inter-link to other blog posts with the keyword to related article
[box type=”red”]Don’t Ignore Comments On Your Blog[/box]
This is one of the same reasons why I had stopped accepting guest posts on this blog., because some of my guest bloggers ignored the comments left on their articles.
If you are a blogger then replying to comments left on your articles (on your blog or through guest blogging) is a must for blogging success.
Since I had stopped accepting guest posts (for now) I have written 11 articles so far and has gotten over 600 blog comments.
Amazing isn’t it!?
How To Make Money From Your Blog By Selling Advertisements is my number 3 top article on this blog with 86 comments, and the amazing thing about this article is that I had just written it the other day.
This goes to show that when you reply to comments left on your articles you are actually building a foundation for your blog to stand on. Blog commenting builds up relationships and also the community centered around your blog.
Ignoring comments left on your blog is like not appreciating the time out that your blog readers took to read the article and to also make a comment.
You should value their comment and also thank them for coming to your blog.
Never ignore lonely comments. You may regret it one day.
[box type=”red”]You Shouldn’t Ignore Networking[/box]
In order to build a brand for your blog, to become a successful blogger or to make money from your blog then networking is a must.
When I say networking I mean that you should be friendly with other bloggers and also your blog visitors.
Being friendly with other bloggers can help you to become a featured guest blogger other their blog and getting your blog post for approval much quicker. When these bloggers write articles they can even mention you in their article with a link back to your blog (backlinks for your blog).
Being friendly with your blog readers and visitors will make it easier for them to subscribe to your blog. They will want to share your blog posts. They leave comments on your articles.
What you need to realize is that most people who leave comments on your blog has a website, a blog or a forum. What you can do to have a successful networking campaign so to speak, is to return the favor by visiting their sites and leave comments where appropriate or share one of their pages of interest.
Networking can also be done on social media sites such as Twitter or Facebook. These are two of the most popular sites on the web and loads of bloggers can be found there. Take time out to connect with other bloggers and network with them and build up a strong friendly relationship.
[box type=”red”]Never Ignore Backing Up Of Blog[/box]
I know that most bloggers write articles everyday or every other day without remembering that their blog is connected to a database in order for it to run smoothly.
Also on your web server some, if not most, of your blog files files are stored on your server.
How often do you backup your blog?
Database
I remember, some time ago, waking up one morning only to check on my blog, only to find out that my database got corrupted.
This made me so sad that I lost all my blog post.
My blog was empty. It was really hard to start all over again.
Luckily I had an awesome WordPress plugin on my blog which automatically backs up my database.
This plugin is called WP-DBManager. What this plugin does is to help you manage your WordPress database. Allows you to optimize database, repair database, backup database, restore database, delete backup database , drop/empty tables and run selected queries. Supports automatic scheduling of backing up, optimizing and repairing of database.
With this plugin you can set it to backup your WordPress database automatically. For example you can set it to backup your database every day, every 12 hours or every 6 hours.
You can use it to repair your database if something goes wrong with it.
Email your database to your every time that it is backed-up.
Restore your database to one of the backed-up version.
I urge you to install this plugin WP-DBManager.
Files
Backing up of your WordPress files is also important. You may be working on your blog doing some coding and by mistake you delete a file that was really important to your blog.
Errors can occur as well and files can get deleted.
How will you get back these files?
Well now you see the importance of backing up your files on your server?
My blog is hosted with Hostgator.com and they back up my files for me every month. So this gives me reason not to worry about losing my files because they are being saved by my hosting.
If you are not on Hostgator then you can sign up and have a much more secured webserver who can back up your files for you.
